Cookie policy

Ridley Partners Ltd, trading as Ridley Digital

This Cookie Policy explains how Ridley Partners Ltd, trading as Ridley Digital ("we", "us", or "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at ridleydigital.co.uk. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and should be read with it. We set this out to comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember your actions and preferences over time, and they tell the site owner how the site is being used. We also use similar technologies such as tracking pixels and local storage, which work in comparable ways. In this policy we refer to all of these as "cookies".

Cookies can be set by us (first-party cookies) or by a third party whose service we use, such as an analytics or advertising platform (third-party cookies). They can last only for the length of your visit (session cookies) or stay on your device until they expire or you delete them (persistent cookies).

2. How we ask for your consent

When you first visit our site, a cookie banner asks whether you accept non-essential cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically because the site cannot work without them. Every other category, including analytics, advertising and the third-party pixels listed below, is off until you turn it on.

You can accept everything, reject everything except strictly necessary cookies, or open the preferences panel and choose each category. We do not set analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies before you give consent, and rejecting them is as easy as accepting them. Your choice is stored so the banner does not ask again until your choice expires or you clear it.

3. Categories of cookies we use

CategoryWhat it doesConsent needed
Strictly necessaryMakes the site work: security, load balancing, and remembering your cookie choice. No, set automatically
Analytics / performanceTells us how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. Covers Google Analytics and Hotjar.Yes
Advertising / targetingMeasures our campaigns and lets us show relevant content on other platforms. Covers Google Ads, the Meta Pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag.Yes

We do not place visitors into special category profiles under UK GDPR Article 9, and we do not use cookies to make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

4. The cookies in detail

The table below lists the cookies and tracking technologies we use. Cookie names and lifespans set by third parties can change when those providers update their products. Where a provider sets several cookies, we have listed the main ones.

Provider / cookieCategoryPurposeTypical lifespan
Cookie consent (first-party)Strictly necessaryRecords your cookie preferences so we honour them and do not ask again12 months
Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*)AnalyticsDistinguishes visitors and measures how the site is usedUp to 14 months
Hotjar (_hj*)AnalyticsRecords anonymised session behaviour such as scrolling and clicks to show where the site can be improvedUp to 12 months
Google Ads (_gcl_*, conversion)AdvertisingMeasures ad conversions and supports remarketingUp to 90 days
Meta Pixel (_fbp)AdvertisingMeasures campaign performance and supports remarketing on Facebook and InstagramUp to 90 days
LinkedIn Insight Tag (li_*, bcookie)AdvertisingMeasures campaign performance and supports remarketing on LinkedInUp to 6 months

We also use Google Search Console to monitor how the site performs in Google Search. Search Console reports on aggregated, anonymised search data and does not set tracking cookies on your device through our site, so it is not part of the consent banner.

5. Third-party cookies and tracking

Some cookies are set by third parties whose tools we use. When you consent to analytics or advertising cookies, these providers receive data about your visit and may combine it with data they already hold. They act as data controllers for the processing they carry out through their own platforms. We recommend you read their policies:

6. International data transfers

Several of these providers, including Google, Meta, LinkedIn and Hotjar, are based outside the United Kingdom and process data in the United States and elsewhere. Where consenting to a cookie results in your data being transferred outside the UK, that transfer relies on a safeguard under UK GDPR Chapter V, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or a UK adequacy decision. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.

7. How to manage or withdraw consent

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. Use the "Cookie settings" control on the site to reopen the preferences panel, then turn any category on or off and save. Your new choice takes effect immediately for any cookies we control.

Withdrawing consent does not remove cookies already placed on your device. To clear those, delete them through your browser using the steps in the next section. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.

8. Controlling cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored, block them, and delete them. The steps differ by browser:

  • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Settings > Privacy
  • Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security
  • Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions

Blocking all cookies may stop parts of this and other websites from working. Guidance on managing cookies across browsers is at aboutcookies.org. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

9. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed industry standard for how sites should respond to it, so we do not currently change our behaviour based on that signal. We rely on your choices in the cookie banner instead.

10. Changes to this cookie policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when our tools change or when the law changes. Any update shows in the revision date at the top of this page. Where a change affects how we use cookies that need consent, we will ask for your consent again through the banner.
